When this year started, I was preparing to relaunch my vegan nail polish brand Taupe Coat, as Sainte Nèl, a non-toxic nail care + wellness company.
Many of you have been customers since Taupe Coat. For those of you in that club, I cannot even begin to say how much I appreciate you. I started Taupe Coat in 2017 and the fact that I have gotten to know so many of you through this business continues to blow my mind. Thank you.
Sainte Nèl’s first year was one for the books. We were featured by the Major League Soccer team, the Los Angeles Football Club for Women's History Month and hosted the Rich Auntie Tea Party which raised money for our philanthropic efforts. We participated in the Buy From A Black Woman Inspire Tour presented by H&M and in November, we hosted our Mani Magic party in Century City with our new retailer AMP Beauty LA. Speaking of new retailers, we added several this year. Sainte Nèl is now sold in two boutiques in Tulsa, Hank’s Mini Market in Los Angeles and AMP Beauty LA’s downtown Los Angeles location. Some of the most exciting news is our new partnership with Target.com. Yes, that’s right. You can now shop Sainte Nèl at Target.com.
I’m excited to start 2024 with a renewed focus on who Sainte Nèl is and how we can create the best quality nail care products on the market.
There will be some small changes with how we do business in the new year. At least for 2024, the Sainte Nèl shop will open only once per quarter. We’ll be back on March 1, 2024 (with two new products). Why am I doing this?
To be frank…I’m busy as hell and trying to do better at caring for my mental and physical health. Along with Sainte Nèl, I own and operate a specialty fulfillment center with my brother Isaiah, and I still practice law as a commercial litigator. I have not always done a good job at making sure I’m not burning myself out, but the good news is that there’s always time to start better habits. As a "recovering workaholic," every day, I'm learning how to focus more on the things that bring me joy and less on doing things for productivity's sake.
Quarterly releases will allow me to develop intentionally made, small batch products, made with the quality that you deserve. But don’t worry, when the shop is closed (like now) we’ll still be updating our blog, hosting events and you can buy our products at our retail partners (like Target.com and AMP Beauty LA).
My hope is that our slower pace this year will allow me to create the best experience for my customers - you. Because you deserve the best.
