Remember in January when I said I was incorporating more “play” in my life?
Well, I haven’t forgotten! When I took the play personality test, mine was the Explorer. That result made perfect sense to me because I love learning new things and exploring new places. So this month, I visited Asheville, N.C. for the first time.
Before I left home, I got my nails done and selected Nothing Compares, our signature nude. Normally, nude is not my polish of choice (I prefer our vegan red nail polish Purpose Driven, or something bright). But since we reopened our retail shop, Nothing Compares has been the best selling nail polish shade. So I figured I would take it on my vacation with me.
The weather at home in Los Angeles has not been great, but it's definitely nowhere near as chilly as it was in Asheville. My cuticles are very reactive to cold weather … meaning, if the temp drops below 50, I’m definitely getting hangnails. So I took Heal with me as well, to keep up my nightly cuticle oil regime.
There’s not many direct flights into Asheville, so my friend Amanda and I met up in Charlotte, N.C. first. It was also my first time in Charlotte and while I was there, I had dinner with Britney of RVL Wellness Co.
Britney and I met years ago through the New Voices Madame CJ Walker Bootcamp and we’ve stayed in touch, but had never met in person. After catching up and talking business, life, and sharing some hugs, I was on to Asheville - a gorgeous two hour drive away.
Asheville was great. We listened to live music and visited multiple bakeries. We stumbled upon a Dillards outlet and bought dresses we didn’t need. And we saw lots and lots of art.
The only thing we missed out on was hiking or doing outdoor activities. The weather wasn’t good enough this time, so I guess that means I have to go back.
Have you ever been to Asheville? If yes, respond to this email and let me know your favorite places to visit there? If you haven’t, what are some, lesser known destinations you can’t wait to visit?
